Route & General Observations

Started at Center Ridge parking lot and toured towards lower Tincan. Level 1 class on day 2, snowpack assessment and conducting formal snowpit tests.

Weather & Snow Characteristics

Weather

Snowing S-1 in the afternoon. Light winds. Warm temperatures hovering around 32F.

Snow surface

Thin and breakable melt freeze crust. New snow fell while touring, 1cm.

Snowpack

Conducted multiple formal pit tests, including hand pits while touring. Hand pits showed an easy shear of the more resent buried surface hoar on 1/18. However we had a harder time finding the BSH in our formal pit tests.
