Route & General Observations

Women’s Rec 1 for AGC travelled up the normal Sunburst uptrack to a high point of just 2400′, doing handshears on the way up with moderate results on the BSH from 1/10. Dug a quick pit targeting the BSH layers just before the ridge at 2300′ on a West aspect with no alarming results.

Weather & Snow Characteristics

Weather

Beautiful sunny day with pleasant temps of between 25-30 and calm winds.

Snow surface

Thin breakable crust went away around 1800' turning to nice bouncy pow above

Snowpack

Moderate handshears on the 1/10 BSH at lower elevations. We dug a quick pit on West aspect, 2300', 20* slope, HS: 165, targeting both BSH layers and got only an ECTN27 down 30 cms on the 1/18 layer and an ECTP on a 30+overdrive down 50 cms on 1/0 BSH. When I pulled the column off the upper BSH split quite nicely (see photo).
